Our Name

Named for the Kurdish love story everyone knows.

Ehmedê Xanî wrote Mem û Zîn in Kurmancî in the 1690s: two lovers who meet at the Newroz festival and are kept apart by those around them. Three centuries on, it is still the story Kurds tell about love, and about coming together.

We carry both names. Zînis our women’s collection and Memis our men’s: real regional motifs, cloth and cuts, made to be worn at weddings, at Newroz and every day in between.
